Soak 1/2 cup of All-Bran in 1/2 cup of buttermilk

Blend

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

Sift together and add to the above

3/4 cups sugar

1.5 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. baking soda

1/3 cup cocoa

1/4 tsp. vanilla

Drop the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes at 375F. Can be topped with a plain white icing.
